About Us

Growing as a community service since 1971, Meals on Wheels of Coweta, Inc., (MOWOC) was established in 1981 and designated as a 501(c)(3) organization in 1994. MOWOC is a member of the Newnan-Coweta Chamber of Commerce, the Meals on Wheels of America, and is designated as the official Meals on Wheels Chapter in Coweta County

MOWOC operates under the direction of an eleven-member volunteer board of directors and is staffed by five part-time employees and over 150 volunteers. MOWOC prepares and provides home delivered meals at no cost to clients. MOWOC’S mission is to help clients remain in their own homes, improve their nutritional health status, and enhance their quality of life.

Over sixty thousand meals are served to MOWOC clients annually. Approximately 150 volunteers are involved in meal delivery, delivery preparation and food preparation. The majority of MOWOC clients live alone with little or no help. The meal the client receives may be the only meal they eat that day.

Meals on Wheels of Coweta helps adults who:

● are 65 years old or older

● homebound because of disability or chronic illness

● are unable to prepare meals for themselves

● do not receive regular assistance from others

● may be on hospice care or home health care

● may live alone

All services are provided by volunteers who are the friendly faces, kind hearts, and helping hands that show our clients their community still cares
